A Colorful Cottage

Happy Halloween, my dears! We are pretty low key with decorations this year, a few pumpkins, some friendly ghosts and homemade bat streamers (unlike my neighbors who nearly gave me a heart attack the other night with skeletons lounging on their porch…lol). And although it’s the spookiest day of the year (except maybe Tax Day), there’s nothing spooky about this cute little cottage I’m going to show you today.

Designer Schuyler Samperton took care of the interiors and brought all the cozy East Coast vibes into this sunny Sunset Boulevard home. Lots of color and pattern, wallpaper and vintage fabrics make the rooms feel happy and vibrant. No matter the season.

Let’s start with my favorite room of this house, the open plan family room. I love all the cheerful fabrics (Kathryn M.Ireland, Jasper and a Bolivian textile upholstery on the ottoman) and the overall flow of the space. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have all that gorgeous California light pouring in through the windows.

Another fun corner is this living room vignette. A family portrait, an antique accent table and skateboards are a great match.

I’ve never met a window seat I didn’t like and this one below is no exception. Oh, the power of chintz!!

This old world kitchen is another favorite of mine. A 19th century English farm table replaces the usual island. The rug is a flea market find and coordinates beautifully with the floral print of the roman shades.

In the formal dining room, wallpaper and ballroom folding chairs raise the elegance bars. The free standing column is a lovely touch.

I just love this tiny powder room! Texture, pattern and color all is packed in a small, charming space.

Now, I’m not a huge fan of purple but somehow this soft complementary palette works in the master.

And what about this guest bedroom? I’m dying to get some faux bamboo beds in my daughter’s ¨big girl¨ room and this is such good inspiration.

The owner requested an art studio so Samperton transformed a former wooden shed into a chic painting lab.

And now since it IS Halloween, I wanted to share some pretty homes and seasonal décor I love.

Trick or treat!!!

P.S: The LA cottage photos are from here, the rest are from Nora Murphy Country House and Pinterest.
