A Fence & A Cottage

Happy Labor Day weekend! Summer is over and gone are the long, sunny days. Instead, fall is in the air, the first of the leaves are browning and the kiddos are back-to-school. Ballet classes, swimming lessons, chess club – busy, busy times ahead for this momma and her girl. I’m trying to plan our schedule carefully and to pencil in enough doing-nothing time in which we’ll just enjoy each other’s company, cook, play and, of course, do nothing . (Although I can’t remember the last time I had nothing to do, haha. I don’t remember how it’s done either! 🙂 ) And speaking of things to do, on the home front we’re wrapping up the whole building-our-picket-fence business. The end is in sight, I can feel it and, most importantly, I can see it. Our contractor just finished installing the two side gates and did and awesome job. The only thing left to do is replace one of the fence panels at the far end (it came warped, the risks of working with pressure treated lumber, I’m told 😉 ) with a fresh one. Then more priming & painting and we’ll be done. We have a three-day window before the temps drop and the rain sets in so we’ll be very busy laboring this weekend!

Anyway, I’m sure you’re just as busy too! Which is why I can’t stay long – I’m just popping in to show you a beautiful home that we’ve all seen before but that we’re granted a few extra peeks of thanks to Connecticut Cottages and Gardens magazine’s September issue. The house  belongs to the creative duo behind the famed Connecticut shop Plain Goods,  Andrew Fry and Michael DePerno, and is located in Washington, CT. It is worth the additional peek, I promise!

As always, thanks for stopping by and for always leaving such sweet comments! You make this girl’s days a little bit more special. Enjoy the weekend!!

It is lovely but naturally a bit masculine. Always excited to hear
more about your new home and all that’s happening there. Looking so good!
