Anatomy of a Beautiful Living Room

Happy Friday, friends! We’re only a few hours away from an extended weekend – woohoo! But not before a short ”Room of the Day” post.

I have a thing for blue, you know that. I also have a thing for beautiful home libraries, rattan chairs and earthy textures. But what happens when all of these things come together? Well, only the most fabulous room I’ve seen in ages! Jeffrey Bilhuber is a crazy talented designer, a master of color and pattern mixing whose work I’ve admired for years.

One of my absolute favorite rooms he designed is a cottage-style living room in Westchester, New York, that multi-tasks as a home library. I love every detail in this space, from the beautiful warm blues of the color scheme to the easy comfort of the upholstery, all the plants and the pottery.

”For the living room of an English-style cottage, Bilhuber says he chose ”a hodgepodge of low key furnishings, emphasizing charm over provenance”. ” (via 1stdibs)

{Yeap, that’s a camel. Don’t ask me how/why 🙂 }

I can’t find anything wrong with this room, it is truly perfect in my book! So I had a little Photoshop-fun and assembled a mood board with pieces that exude a similar mood. I hope you’ll find some inspiration to incorporate in your own home, just click on the corresponding numbers below if you do (not a sponsored post, I just love the stuff).

I also came across these  chairs that would complement the space beautifully

and these Tuscan terra cotta pots from Pottery Barn that are incredibly cute and a great value for the price!

Okay, I’m off  for the day, wishing you all a relaxing Memorial Day weekend.  See you maybe on Monday, more probably on Tuesday!
