Anatomy of A Perfect Library

A few weeks ago I wrote about a beautiful blue bungalow designed by Lauren Liess and professed my love for its lovely library. The tiny room is covered with floor to ceiling built-in shelving and painted a warm, deep, dreamy blue. A secret doorway leads to a hidden powder room while a cozy window seat offers a comfortable reading space. Need I say more?! 🙂

A rush seat chair, matchstick shades and an antique oak table bring in beautiful, organic elements that are so often found in Liess’ work. Despite its size, this room feels grand. And magical.

Now, if you love this room as much as I do and would love to recreate a similar look, here are some fun ways of doing it!

Farrow & Ball Dix Blue paint (close match with this Benjamin Moore paint) //  sconces // table (chances are you’ll find less expensive alternatives on your local Craigslist or eBay) // rush chairs  // vintage dhurrie // pillows (Lauren Liess Boho stripe paired with this gold pillow)

    hi Eva
This looks so relaxing, and it gives me a semblance of how the paint looks in dim northfacing light.
Your notes at the bottom mentioned a Fallow & Ball paint match to a Benjamin Moore shade, but the link doesn’t open. Could you kindly name the color of BM paint that best matches F & B Dix Blue?
    Thanks so much, Julie
