Attic Bathrooms

A while back I wrote about attic bedrooms and how they are totally the bomb. That post has since spanned into a whole research on my part for more ways to make attic spaces chic and livable, and the possibilities I found are countless. One thing is for sure though- angled ceilings come with both charm and challenge – something that as a decorator I totally love but as a homeowner, totally dread!

First of all, attics can be turned into anything we can possibly imagine. Attics can make excellent play areas, inspiring home offices and libraries, super romantic bedrooms, chic walk-in closets, or amateur observatories (if you’re into that sort of thing). The downside is that storage must be custom so as to maximize the space. Built-in benches and shelves under the eaves will be your best friends, and sure ways to keep clutter out of sight. Lighting and ventilation will be a nuisance too, but nothing that a few well placed skylights won’t fix.

Second, like with any home improvement project your best bet is to plan carefully. Decide what type of space would suit you and yours and check with your local building commission to see if said conversion is allowed. Unfortunately older buildings have a list of grievances and one of them is limited upgrades allowance. If you’re in the happy/lucky category of those who can transform their attics to their fancy, all you have to do next is dream, and look for inspiration.

Hence today’s post! I have a handful of lovely attic bathrooms collected over time and I want to show you some of my faves. There’s something for any taste and style: from country/farmhouse to more refined, traditional spaces and a few modern ones too. Enjoy and happy attic-quing!

What do you think? Anything in here you like? I’m slightly obsessed with the coziness of these spaces so, dear hubby,  I see attic living in our future!

Wonderful! Attics are small spaces with tons of potential.
