In late June 1962, just six weeks before her death, Marilyn Monroe spent three days with celebrity photographer Bert Stern at the Bel Air Hotel for her last photo shoot with Vogue. The collection of over 2,500 shots was published by Stern twenty years later in a book called The Last Sitting.
Among all these photographs, I find these to be some of the most powerful she’d ever taken. A departure from her usually sensual photo shoots, Stern’s talent was to bring out a darker, more contemplative and mysterious side of the late actress. These black and white pictures show a glimpse of her immense feminine power, of what could have been… They would look so beautiful framed!
The fashion legacy of singer, actress and songwriter Jane Birkin is undeniable. Over the last several decades, her bohemian, effortlessly cool style has influenced women everywhere. She has changed and shaped the way people dress and her influence is still as powerful as ever. As proof, not a day goes by that her signature feminine look does not grace my screen on any number of my social media followings.
Power dressing at its finest is what today’s post is all about. One of the more understated royals of Europe, Letizia of Spain is nevertheless one fashionable Queen and my latest style crush.
Wife of King Felipe VI, Letizia is the first Queen of Spain to have been born a commoner. The modern Queen comes from a middle-class family and studied journalism in Madrid before becoming a successful news anchor. She married prince Felipe in 2004 and became Queen in 2014 after the abdication of King Juan Carlos I, Felipe’s father. Together with Felipe, they are parents to two beautiful little girls, Leonor (heir presumptive) and Sofia.
Holiday Greetings from Spain’s Royal Family
No politics, just fashion. First Lady Michelle Obama has made some wonderful fashion choices over the last eight years. She brought to the White House a breath of fresh air, youthful outfits, a sense of humor and bold fashion. Although dressed by some of the best designers, she often mixed the high with the low. H&M dresses and haute couture equally expressed her strong fashion sense. Here are my top picks for Michelle’s best looks over the years:
Starting with this asymmetrical dress that is the epitome of elegance on her. Minimal makeup and the right accessories.
