Every now and then I get this urge to simplify our life. From the way we do our grocery shopping to the manner in which we entertain or organize our home, I often try to optimize our ways. I love being efficient with my time and find myself constantly improving/ testing new things that make life smoother for our little family: a faster route to pre-school, or an easier way to plan for healthy meals, getting rid of things we no longer need… You can call me an ¨optimizer¨, but I’m pretty sure there’s a clinical term for it…lol.
Yet with all that planning that both me and my husband love to do, today was one of those Mondays when your alarm wouldn’t work, halfway through your drive to work you realize you forgot your wallet… all those pesky little details that can mess up even the most carefully planned out days. I had this beautiful home in my mind for a while now, and although the style is quite different than mine, I find it a perfect reminder of a simplified life. Something I’m still striving to achieve with my own. While I won’t be living in this neutral dream home anytime soon ( I love my colors & patterns way to much), I can totally understand why someone would choose to make it as a destination home. I would feel so recharged spending even just a few days in a place like this!
Rich natural wood tones as well as beautiful woodwork painted white throughout the house create the perfect backdrop for midcentury modern furnishings… vintage baskets and throws, and collections of all kinds.
Camel leather chairs, chrome finishes, black and white artwork and photography, and so many books!
This library / office is perfection!
All white/ neutral interiors are more difficult to pull off for a number of reasons. One, they can feel cold and sterile. Second, white homes can end up looking too feminine. This one is neither. It achieves the perfect balance of warmth and simplicity, without it feeling austere.
I hope you enjoyed, have a simplified week!
