Emmy’s Best Dressed Ladies

Happy Tuesday, friends! A miracle happened the other night. For the first time since becoming a mom (4 happy years ago), I was able to watch through an entire award show (red carpet arrivals included) without major interruptions!!! Yayy!! (And it was a good one this year). Although I loved the overall atmosphere and the sea of gorgeous gowns, I felt slightly disappointed by this year’s lack of love for House of Cards. Ahh, well…

With respect to the dresses, the word best describing the red carpet looks is variety. Different shapes, colors, lengths and styles, we saw it all and as usual, some people got it right while others, not so much. Here’s the list of my favorite  gowns starting with what could easily be the best dressed celeb of the 2016 Emmys: Regina King wearing Elizabeth Kennedy. Delicate and minimal accessories make this gown stand out on its own. With a dress like that, not much else is needed.

The second dress I absolutely adored was another red number, on Kate McKinnon. Simplicity is always, always a good choice. Love the hair and the coordinating red lip. Spot on.

Next up, Olivia Culpo’s superb Zac Posen dress stopped me in my tracks. A silver and white semi-sheer dream paired with matching heels made her look out of this world.

Impossible not to love, Giuliana Rancic’s Georges Chakra chiffon and lace gown was taken straight out of a fairytale. Plus, the color is perfect for her skin tone. Great choice!

Kristen Bell was a vision in a romantic Zuhair Murad floral dress.

You’ve got it, you flaunt it! Niecy Nash looked the part in this body hugging dress. Very Sofia Vergara! Love her hair and accessories too.

Yellow is everywhere lately and sure enough, it made an appearance on the red carpet. This spaghetti strap dress was a great choice for Taraji P. Henson. Eye-catching for sure.

Melora Hardin and the most beautiful blue dress of the night. Love her!

As for the best dressed baby bump of the night, Kerry Washington is the absolute winner. A daring cut-out Brandon Maxwell maternity dress, stunning hair and make-up make this one of the best looks of the festivities.

Hello, Downton Abbey! I almost didn’t recognize lady Mary’s chamber girl, Anna. What-a-makeover!

Old Hollywood glamour, anyone?

There were plenty of beautiful looks this year but these are the ones I thought were best. With respect to the least successful outfits, we don’t like pointing fingers now, do we?  🙂

Have a great week.
