The Fabulous Kitchens of Steven Gambrel

It’s no secret that I’m a huge admirer of Steven Gambrel’s work. A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post about a beautiful country kitchen designed by S.R. Gambrel and it got me thinking about all his other fabulous kitchen designs. His residential work spans over many continents and includes both country and town projects and there was no shortage in finding some of the most gorgeous kitchens among them.

As different as the styles of these projects are, there are a few recurring elements that can be traced in many of them. The use of a neutral color scheme, whites and creams and light blue-grays for starters. Marble is one of S.R. Gambrel’s favorite choices for his country kitchen projects. Open shelving. Cozy breakfast corners. Stunning industrial lighting, the more pendants the better. Rustic bowls and pottery. Special attention to flooring – this is a big one. Whether it is hardwood, reclaimed pine or graphic tiles, floors are always an important part of Gambrel’s designs.

What do you think? Any one in particular you like?

Now that we made it to Friday, get out there and enjoy your weekends! See you on Monday 🙂
