Green Folly

Hi, friend! I have a lovely room to show you today. Rafe Churchill Traditional Houses is an award winning architecture and design firm based in Sharon, Connecticut with a passion for the vernacular. Their portfolio is a beautiful string of country homes, old and new that Churchill and his design team have restored and renovated.

A carpenter by tradition and training, Rafe spent a few years in NYC as designer and exhibiting sculptor before moving to Connecticut with his wife, interior designer Heide Hendricks. The couple’s love for architecture and design inspired a successful collaboration. Rafe Churchill coordinates the architectural side of their firm while Heide is involved with the interior design aspects. A great match!

Rustic and welcoming, this cozy farmhouse living room is part of a project that has received the Fine Home Buildings ”2016 Best New House” award. It has beautiful architectural details and a warm feel. I love the mix of green with the navy blue on the wingchairs and the fact that the two don’t match upholsteries. The live-edge coffee table and sisal carpeting are a perfect  choice.

In case you were wondering like I was, the paint color is Farrow & Ball’s Folly Green. Have a great day!

Love your post! Keep ‘me coming. The details on the lower bookcases are a true mark of fine workmanship. I’m from a family of carpenters, woodworkers and what I see here is simple, yet elegant and perfectly finished.

Everybody says blue is the one color everyone loves but I think they’re wrong – it’s green 🙂
