By far one of my favorite decorating tricks, maxing out on one pretty print is a sure way to create a fabulous room. Coordinating wallpaper, curtains and upholstery, or at least two out of these three, creates a dramatic, seamless effect. Spaces in which one fabric is used consistently feel cozy and intimate, which is why bedrooms are ideal candidates for this trick-of-the-trade.
In the absence of visual boundaries, rooms with matching wallpaper and curtains appear grander (like this Montecito bedroom below designed by Mark Sikes) and the same goes for angled ceilings – extending wall treatments across the ceiling softens the angles for a unified look.
The best part is that coordinating wall treatments with curtains and upholstery is easy to do since most textile companies carry wallpaper versions of their fabrics. Many designers have used this technique at one point or another and the results were fantastic… Have a look!
