¨More is more. Less is never more – less is obviously less. Who wants less?¨- Michelle Nussbaumer
Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorator Kathryn M. Ireland for sure doesn’t and she turned me around. I usually go for a more restrained décor yet I can’t help but love Kathryn’s unorthodox ways with color and pattern. She has fun creating interiors that are breezy, happy and such a feast for the eyes!
The British-born interior designer has had her work published in every shelter magazine I can think of: Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Veranda, Elle Décor, …. and is known for her preference for bold colors and layers of patterns and textiles. Her style is a blend of California bohemian chic meets European classic meets ¨fly by the seat of your pants¨ design. She has that amazing instinct ( all designers wish they had ) for mixing the most unexpected prints in the most wonderful ways.
With a career that spans over more than two decades, Kathryn has an eponymous line of textiles and furniture collection, and has been decorating the homes of Hollywood’s elite such as Drew Barrymore, Steve Martin, Julia Louis-Dreyfus to name a few….
Recently she started a mentoring program, called Designer Bootcamp, that offers an introduction to the interior design business world. The small groups of fellow designers and aspiring decorators learn about project management, budget estimations, furniture layouts and fabric selections with valuable personal insights from Kathryn herself. Sounds like an amazing opportunity!
Happy decorating at its best!
Anyways, I’m off for the day but wish y’all a great rest of the week. See you tomorrow!
