Beach houses are by far some of my favorite homes to post about. Especially now that the cold months have taken over. Today’s house is a pretty Long Island cottage decorated by designer Gregory Shano in tones of blue and sand, a year long reminder of the beach.
With over two decades of experience as the Vice President of Design at GAP, Inc, Gregory Shano is a New-York based designer trained at the New York School of Interior Design. He has honed his interior design skills at none other than SR Gambrel and went on to start his own firm in 2011. His projects have been published in shelter magazines such as House Beautiful. This particular home appeared in the April 2015 issue.
A great design element in this project is the choice of raffia wall coverings over paint. The textured wallpaper that covers most of the rooms brings in warmth and makes the home feel incredibly inviting.
A former garage has been transformed into a chic pool house with an outdoor dining space outfitted with all-weather furniture. Pillows are in Ralph Lauren’s Sunbrella fabric.
Boxwood and a privet fence create a clean look for the gardens.
I love the coziness of the pool house. Beadboard walls, whitewashed ceilings and a pretty Ralph Lauren stripe complement the rattan furniture set. Also that gallery wall….
Lovely little cottage, isn’t it? If you’d like to read more about the story and resources, head over to House Beautiful. Hope your week will be a great one.
