Good morning, sunshine! We made it, it’s finally Friday! Any fun plans for the weekend? I’ll be on a last minute hunt for a giant bunny costume so wish me luck… But before I’m off, I wanted to share a beautiful breakfast/dining corner that has inspired me for years, in an attempt to recreate it with some easy finds.
First of all, this room is set in sunny California, which explains that glorious light. Second, the pine pedestal table is a lucky flea-market score and an exact replica is therefore hard to get.
That being said, the anatomy of this space is pretty simple, yet extremely effective. A sunny corner in the living room of designer Beverley Wesman was equipped with a built-in banquette. The palette was kept all-white with the exception of a few colorful pillows. The white roman shades help control the amount of natural light without adding visual weight. Now, the star of this corner is no doubt, that gorgeous pine table. A family heirloom or flea-market find – either way it looks stunning and I love how the wood was left natural, it has the perfect amount of warmth to the grain.
The sisal rug keeps things simple while bringing in more natural texture. The two dining chairs we only see a glimpse of are some of the best Ikea has ever made. They are tiny, clean-lined and extremely versatile. Ikea has since discontinued them but they make a very close match (see link below).
As for the table, like I said, be on the look-out for something similar on Craigslist, local thrift shops, even your grandma’s attic. You never know! In the meantime, here are some small pedestal tables that are great for an intimate dinner of two. I know, they don’t even come close to the inspiration but they aren’t bad either…
Worldmarket – Jozy Weathered Gray Pedestal Table
I have had a crush on this Pottery Barn table for ages. So chic and again, multifunctional.
