With summer in full swing, 4th of July is just one week away and holiday decor has taken over the design blogosphere! Summer is one of my favorite times of the year yet it always feels too short… Where did the time go? What are your plans for next week?
Understandably, beach house decor is the hot topic right now and I’m in my usual mood for coastal blues, stripes and woven goods. Victoria Hagan is the authority on coastal decor and I’ve had this living room she designed in my mind since late March (2008)! It is barely decorated with subtle nautical accents here and there. Delicate sheers let the stunning views take over and I can almost feel the breeze creeping through the open windows.
It all looks so effortless, as if nobody decorated in here except that the arrangement, scale and sculptural shapes of the furnishings suggest an orchestrator behind all this prettiness. One of the things I love about this space is that black and white, and navy stripes are all that’s needed to create a fresh coastal living room that will continue to inspire many, for years to come.
In that spirit, I assembled a board with some pretty pieces to help create a relaxed nautical look in your decor, inspired by Victoria Hagan’s design. I added a personal touch with woven accents that I love, let me know if you see something you like!
