While preparing last Friday’s post, I came across a number of pretty items that could lend themselves to a fun seasonal refresh in my home and I’d love to share them with you. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something you like and feel inspired in your own decorating! Based on two favorite looks for summer, I made good use of my finds and grouped them into different design stories with common threads – color and mood. Nautical beauty, neutral territory and navy stripes – let me know if you see something you must have! 🙂
I believe it doesn’t take a major splurge to prepare our homes for summer. It’s all in the details, especially the little ones – new throw pillows and some fresh hydrangeas can make a world of difference. Another thing I do when the weather gets warmer is to switch out our heavier hide with a striped dhurrie. I like to layer our rugs and dhurries are perfect for summer. They have a light flat weave that is incredibly cool to touch and so comfortable during the hot season!
When it comes to summery hues, I just love the nautical feel of blues and whites. It may not be original but the combination is fresh and calming, no matter the season!
Another great beach house look can be built around a beautiful neutral palette inspired by nature. Whites, ivory, tans and sands – they all feel right for this time of year. And if you’re worried that neutrals may look too flat and monotonous, don’t be! They can be made interesting with layering, and the right play on textures.
And how fun is this sofa?!! Pretty and cheerful!
I fell in love with this skirted beauty. It looks beach-y without being beach house cliché. I’d also keep the mirror and the chocolate pillows from the previous boards, and add drama with a faux zebra hide. You know how I love those! But if you’re not into hides, you can try a fun dhurrie instead.
