The Painted Dresser

Well, if there was a recurring theme for me this week, this is it. I’ve been on the hunt for painted pieces that look great, not DIY-ed but beautifully classic. I’m inspired by the Swedish farmhouse style of pale blues and grays and went down the rabbit hole in search of some great pieces available out there. Of course, there’s something for every price point, from Joss and Main to antiques. 1stdibs and Chairish have a great selection of Gustavian style dressers, bureaus and armoires, but even retailers have furnishings in a painted finish that would lend great cottage style to any space. My favorite retail finds were at Ballard Designs, with a large variety of dressers and colors to choose from.

With painted furniture, I prefer a slightly distressed look, not shabby but time-worn.  Something like this:

Eva, I love Swedish style too. What a funny coincidence that we both wrote about it in our blog posts today! It must be something in the air making us crave peaceful and serene designs. I love the Swedish blues and greys and absolutely adore the color of the armoire you shared. So beautiful!
